KSU College of the Arts Phases 1 and 2
Leapley Construction transformed the KSU College of the Arts’ former facilities warehouse into a highly specialized, student-focused makerspace and academic environment through a multi-phase renovation and expansion. The completed work included laser cutters and 3D printers enclosed within a custom steel viewing structure, three 3D computer labs, one 2D classroom, two illustration classrooms, faculty offices, additional computer labs, an art education lab, photography gallery, photo development room, dedicated dark room, multiple gallery spaces with open ceilings, a 3D video gallery, and secure art and artifact storage areas.
Extensive MEP coordination was required to support specialized lab equipment and gallery environments, including balanced exhaust systems, redesigned rooftop units, new air handling systems, upgraded electrical infrastructure, and new plumbing systems. Additional improvements included new restrooms, IDF and electrical closets, ADA-accessible exterior upgrades, and enhanced support spaces designed to create a modern, flexible arts facility that supports instruction, exhibition, and community engagement within an occupied campus environment.
